The Arthrex business system is based on
a client/server configuration using a DEC Alpha UNIX server and
a Windows network. An Automated Data Collection system using RF makes warehouse functions more efficient.
Arthrex ships an average of 500 parcels daily,
most of which are packed and shipped 15 minutes after the order
is received. The order is taken in a GUI environment and the
customer information, PO number, order number and method of shipping
are sent to a logical drive on their network. CPS then retrieves
this information using background importing, which is so fast it
is invisible to the shipping system operator. Then, a customized
shipping label with the PO and order number prints automatically.
To complete the process, the tracking number and freight costs are
uploaded into the pending invoice for that order. At the end
of the day, the PO and order numbers, along with the tracking numbers
and shipping information, are uploaded to UPS®.
The Harvey Software's staff configured CPS to send SHIP eLERT
shipment notifications to instantly thank their customers for their
orders and allow them to track their parcels from their own PO numbers.
